Australian flora is extraordinarily diverse, beautiful, hardy and drought resistant. Despite this, the overwhelming majority of flowers, plants and trees used in Australian homes, gardens and landscapes are "exotic"- that is, they are not native Australians. But change is on the way. Increasingly Australian gardeners and landscapers are choosing native flora to add a fresh palette of colours, textures, aromas, shapes and forms- redefining beauty and creating a new "Australian aesthetic" A vibrant and flouishing native flora industry is emerging to meet this demand.

Austem's mission is to establish the rightful place of native flora in the Australian home, garden and landscape.
